What You Need To Know About Liposuction

Understanding Different Liposuction Techniques

Excess fat is easy to accumulate, but very hard to get rid of. Aging, lack of exercise, poor diet, and genetics all play a part in your weight. Diet and exercise aren’t always enough. You may need a little help. You may need liposuction, available from your plastic surgeon. Dr. Paul Fischer, in Milford, CT, provides a wide range of plastic surgery services, including liposuction.

What You Need To Know About Liposuction

Liposuction can remove stubborn fat deposits in problem areas like your upper arms, legs, thighs, abdomen, back, hips, and buttocks.

Early liposuction techniques used a small tube that was inserted into the fat deposit through an incision in the skin. The tube, called a cannula, was attached to a pump which provided suction. The cannula was moved around in the fat deposit, breaking the fat deposit into pieces, and then the fat was removed by the suction pump.

Today’s liposuction is much easier. There are different techniques, and the two techniques used most frequently are:

Ultrasonic Liposuction, uses ultrasonic vibration to destroy the fat cell walls. After the fat cell walls are destroyed, the fat is liquified and removed with suction.

Tumescent technique, which uses a local anesthetic and saline solution which are injected into the fat deposits, causing the fat deposits to break up. The fat is then removed with suction.

If you have tried diet and exercise, and you still are dealing with stubborn fat deposits, it’s time to try a new approach–liposuction. You deserve to regain your beautiful body, and your plastic surgeon can help.
