Breast Reconstruction
Reconstruction of one or both breasts after
mastectomy for cancer, or due to a congenital abnormality of breast
development is done using implants or lower abdominal fat and skin ( TRAM
flap ). This procedure can be done at the time of the mastectomy or as a
secondary procedure and involves anywhere from one to five hours with one to
five days in the hospital for recovery. It is most often covered by
insurance.
